This can take up to 8 hours or even longer once you have popped it into the freezer. So although you can make ice cream fast once the bowl is frozen, you do have to prepare a few hours before hand. A way round this is to just leave to bowl in the freezer all the time it is not in use. Then it will always be ready.

As already mentioned, if you need to make more than 2 quarts of ice cream, you will need more than one bowl. You can purchase an extra bowl but it may take up some room in your freezer if you have two empty bowls just sitting there.
